UMEM is a patented protocol that keeps AI conversation context encrypted on your device — not on any server. The AI receives only what you authorize, encrypted in transit, with the session key destroyed after every exchange.
Your memory is filtered locally before anything is encrypted or transmitted. Try it.
A four-step protocol that puts the user in sovereign control of their AI memory.
Conversation units (LCUs) are stored locally in your UMEM Container — encrypted at rest on your own device. No cloud dependency.
When you query an AI, UMEM evaluates which LCUs are relevant. Irrelevant units are withheld entirely — the AI never sees them.
A unique Session Encryption Key (SEK) encrypts the selected LCUs. The SEK exists only on your device and is never transmitted.
After the exchange, the SEK is destroyed. Hash verification confirms integrity. The server stores nothing about your memory.
Core independent claims of the UMEM provisional patent, filed April 2026.
User-controlled storage of AI conversation context on the user's own device.
Protocol for withholding irrelevant memory units from the AI server entirely.
Per-session encryption key generated client-side, never transmitted to server.
Mandatory key destruction post-exchange with cryptographic hash verification.
Architecture eliminates server-side memory storage cost — scales to any AI platform.
Compatible with any AI system via standardized UMEM Container specification.
The same protocol. Three critical applications where data sovereignty is not optional.
An analyst uses AI to draft mission reports. UMEM automatically withholds coordinates, agent identities, and classified operational data. The AI receives only the query — never the context that could compromise national security.
A physician uses AI for diagnostic support. UMEM blocks Protected Health Information (PHI) from transmission entirely. The AI assists with the clinical question — without ever processing the patient's identity or history.
An engineer uses AI for code review. UMEM retains proprietary algorithms, source code, and product roadmaps locally. The AI accelerates development — without ingesting intellectual property that could train competitor models.
Install the local agent on your PC. It creates your UMEM Container and connects to umemprotocol.tech.
